COMMISSIONERS TO GIVE INFORMATION CO-OPERATING WITH MERCHANTS Th© fostering of New Zealand trade by the Dominion s trade commissioners and importers and exporters is outlined in a circular issued by the Department of Industries and Commerce under the authority of the Minister m charge, the Hon. J. B. Donald. Commissioners have recently been appointed in Canada and Australia and from them exporters, both of primary products and manufactured goods, will be able to receive up-to-date information concerning the present and prospective demand for their goods, foreign and local competition, details of best selling methods, confidential reports of the status of buyers and specifications of products in particular demand. Trade commissioners will also recommend to intending exporters the names of responsible parties in a position to act as agents, buyers and distributors, and advice will also be given to New Zealand producers and manufacturers as to the best form of publicity to be used. In addition, particulars will be supplied as to terms of payment with overseas buyers. INTRODUCING VISITORS Introducing visitors from New 2Sealand to prospective buyers and agents and settling disputes which may arise between New Zealand exporters and buyers abroad. Information will also be provided as to freight rates, port dues, customs duties and requirements, so as to enable New Zealand firms to quote prices for delivery overseas. The trade commissioners will also require from New Zealand exporters full particulars of their products and bank references, together with other data which will facilitate business. In this way it is hoped to place New Zealand on a competitive basis in the overseas trade.
