WIFE’S DEBTS, THE CAUSE From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON - , Today. The affairs of Charles Edward Stevenson, agricultural inspector, were inquired into by the Official Assignee, Mr. V. 1:. Crowhurst, today. Bankrupt, in his statement, said he had got into liis present position owing to debts incurred by his wife on a property in which he, bankrupt, was financially interested. He was living apart from his wife for eight years, and during the last four years had been paying her £6 a Week. The petitioning creditor, Hr. Stevenson. Auckland, agreed at the meeting to the annulment of the bankruptcy on the bankrupt agreeing to pay £2OO cash, and giving a mortgage for £l3O over a property in New Plymouth.
