GANDHI'S NEW MOVE
VIOLENCE MAY ATTEND LIQUOR LAW FIGHT SALT TAX PLAN FAILS United P.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 9.45 a.m. DELHI, Monday. Gandhi, having failed in his campaign to break the salt tax laws, is now directing his attention toward preventing the sale to natives of liquor, by a system of picketing by Congress volunteers. This new movement is expected to degenerate, as has his salt tax movement, into violence. The loss of revenue to the Government of India if the drink traffic is abolished will be nearly £14,000,000. Gandhi’s efforts to secure the resignation of Government officials, with the object of paralysing the Administration, is almost a complete failure, except in the district of Gujerat.
