Birthday of Emperor Hirohito SCION OF OLD DYNASTY A flag flying from a building in Fort Street today marks the 29th birthday of his Imperial Japanese Majesty the Emperor Hirohito. It is a national day for the men of Nippon. Hirohito, who succeeded his father, Yoshihito, in 1926, is a member of a dynasty that began as long ago as 660 B.C. In that year Jimmu Tenno founded the Japanese Empire, the dynasty reigning until the 12th century. It was revived in 1868, when

the Shogun, which had been the ruling power for 700 years, was overthrown. Hirohito married the Princess Ngako on January 26, 1924. This morning the Japanese Consul, Mr. A. B. Roberton, received calls from the following members of the Consular Corps:—M. Paul Serre (France), Mr. Walter F. Boyle (U.S.A.), Mr. N. Heath (Latvia), Mr. Battley (Argentine), . Mr. Copeland (Denmark), and Mr. Craig (Chile).
