PUBLICITY FOR ORCHARDISTS
ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED Preliminary arrangements for the launching of a publiety campaign in the interests of Auckland orchardists were made yesterday at a meeting of representatives of Auckland fruit growers and retailers, and the Auckland Fruit and Produce Auctioneers’ Association. Mr. H. Turner presided. A resolution was* passed that an advertising fund and campaign be inaugurated. It was suggested as a means of raising funds a levy might be made on all cases of local fruit sold in Auckland. It was proposed that half the levy should be borne by the growers and a quarter by the retailers and tioneers respectively. Reports on the advisability of the scheme will be submitted by the three sections affected at the next meeting. It was stated that there were frequently demands by , the public for fruit out of season. It was considered that an advertising campaign would inform the public as to the right seasonal time for purchasing lines of fruit. Tho following committee was appointed:—Chairman, Mr. S. W. House; secretary, Mr. H. E. Staley; members, Messrs. C. H. Scott and W. J. Rodger; representing the growers; W. G. Shearer, C. H. Stevens and C. Ah Chee;. representing the retailers; and A. Turner, W. H. Rice and C. Perkins, representing the auctioneers, Messrs. G. A. Green, B. Bunn and Paynter were appointed in an advisory capacity.
