WAIRUNA TO LAY UP
EFFECT OF AUSTRALIAN TARIFF Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Wairuna, which is regularly engaged in the transpacific general cargo trade, will be temporarily laid up at Auckland on her arrival there next week from Newcastle. One of the factors is the effect of the new Australian tariff on Australian imports from America. Further, much of the American export trade is seasonal, and a regular falling off in cargo offering is noticeable at tlua time of yea.r.
