CHORAL SERVICE
KRIPPNER—KARL A quiet wedding was solemnised at j St. Patrick's Church, Te Awamutu. on Wednesday, when V\ illiam Paul, fifth son of the late Air. and Airs. Krippner, Te Rore, was married to Alary, daughter of Air. and Airs. C. Karl. Otorua. The service was fully choral and the • church was beautifully decorated with white and gold flowers. The Rev. Father O'Flynn was the officiating priest. The bride chose a frock of moon- . light blue crepe de chine with panels of beautiful lace and drapings. Her hand-embroidered tulle veil was held j in place with orange blossom and she j carried a bouquet of cosmos, daisies and chrysanthemums to tone with her frock. Aliss Marie Brennan, niece ot the bride, attended as bridesmaid and : wore a dainty frock of buttercup taffeta with tight-fitting bodice and long full skirt. She wore a largo green ; hat and carried a bouquet of autumnshaded flowers. . . ! Air. Frank Krippner attended his j brother as best man. | Later a reception was held at tne j residence of Airs. E. Brennan. Pate- j rangi where the usual toasts were ; honoured. Air. and Airs. Krippner will make their home in Paterangi Road, ; Te Rore.
KITCHEN EVENING FOR BRIDE-TO-BE
NORTHCOTE GATHERING A kitchen evening was given on j Thursday by Miss L. Tremain at j her father’s residence, Church Street, j Northcote, to Aliss Nancy Robertson, of Northcote, in honour of her approaching marriage to Air. Edward Kidd, Te Kopuru, Northern Wairoa. The evening was spent in competitions and games, while vocal and musical items were given. Among the guests present were: Airs. Stevens (.Gisborne), Airs. D. Collett (.Taumarunui), Miss Al. MISS SPENCER OPENS NEW ROOMS On Saturday evening Aliss Dorothy Spencer held her opening night at her studio, Symondsville, which had been beautifully decorated for the occasion as a Chinese garden with cherry trees in full blossom and golden chrysanthemums. The lighting effects were a feature of the evening. There was a large number of guests present and a delightful evening was spent. Excellent music was supplied by Mr. Jack Rowe and his orchestra. Jackson, black crepe de chine; Aliss Kent, cuban orange embossed chenille: Aliss Kenny, shell pink with overdress of ivory lace: Aliss Brialey, forget-me-not blue lace over blue crepe de chine; Aliss R. GARDEN PARTY
AVONDALE FUNCTION FOR OBSTETRICAL APPEAL A garden party in aid of the Obstetrical Endowment Appeal was hold on Wednesday last at .Mrs. C. O. Grey's residence “Banwell Lodge,” Avondale. Goods for sale were donated bv residents of Avondale and Avondale South. A large attendance helped to make the afternoon an enjoyable one. Afternoon tea was served on the verandah. The following ladies were stallholders:—Mrs. A. Kemp, produce: Mrs. X. L. Spence, jumble: Mrs H. Potter. Mrs. E. Stych, Mrs. T. H. Copsey, cakes.
