EASTER TOURNEY ENDS Tho open handicap tournament of the Maungakiekie Golf Club was concluded yesterday afternoon at the Titirangi links. The Easter Cup was won by F. Trice (S). who beat F. Hazelden (&>, by 4 and 2. The results of the various events are as follow: Easter Cup.—Semi-finals: F. Trice (S) beat G. M. White (16), 5 and 4; F. Hazelden beat T. E. Clark (11). 2 up. Final: F. Trice beset F. Hazelden. 4 and 2. No. 1 Grcjup.—Final: J. Murray (7) beat I. B. Stewart (11). 6 and 5. No. 2 Grew in.—Final: L. Knight (14) beat V. A. Phillips (14) at the 19th. No. 3 Grooip.—Semi-finals: A Ceruttv (17) beat R- M. Cleghorn (16), 5 and 4: H. V. G affile v (20) beat A. Brooker (20), 3 and 2. Final: IT. V. Ganley beat A. Cerutty, -4 and 2. No. 4 G2»up.—Semi-finals: A. TT. O’Leary (13) beat A. H. Magson (10), at the 19th; J. Swanson won from A. J. Good by default. Final: J. Swanson beat A. H. O’Leairy, 3 and 2. The bogey handicap played in the morning was won by J. S. Whyte, of the Whangarej Club, who with a handicap of 11, returned a card of 3 up. The other best cands returned were:—R. G. Rainger (3). 2 up; F. Trice (6), V. L. Baker (9). 1 -up: W. P. Baker (12), J. Murray (5). X Swanson (8), A. Ceruttv (13), F. Hazeilden (6). H. A. Randrup (5). W. R. Vrarcoe (12). all square. The four-baßl best ball competition was wen by J. O. Wilson and A. J. Good, who returned a card of 5 up. At the conclusion of the tournament, the president, Mr. W. J. A. Thomson, presented the prizes to the successful competitors. ANZAC DAY PLAY The Titirangi and One Tree I-lill links will be closed for play on Friday (Anzae Day) until noon* A bogey handicap will be played at both links on Saturday. AKARAMA LADIES’ CLUB The flag match played by members of the Akarana Ladies' Golf Club yesterday was won by Miss E. Fearnley, whe carried the flag to the 20th green with a score of 101, 3E2—69. Other good cards were as follow;—Mrs. Ivay, 101, 26—75; Miss G. Smith, 100, 21—79; Miss O. Darrell, 94, 15—79; and Mrs. Gilmour, 99, 19—80. The C grade competition was won by Miss M. Pember, who carried the flag to the 19th fairway. Her score was 112, which was equalled by Mrs. Meale.

SILK BEATS ARMSTRONG Press Association PALMERSTON N., Tuesday. In the final of the Manawa'tu Easter golf tourney B. M. Silk (Belmont, Wanganui), defeated C. N. Armstrong .(Wanganui) 1 up at the 20th.

CLOSE GAME AT NEW PLYMOUTH Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday. .The Taranaki amateur golf championship was won today by Leo Quin (Eltham), with G. M. Chong (New Plymouth) runner up. Chong was 3 up with five to play, but Quin produced remarkable golf and won 1 up. WELLINGTON CONTEST WHYTE WINS FINAL Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. In the final of the Wellington provincial golf championships D. O. Wliyte beat J. B. Parker, 2 up. In the semifinals Parker had beaten TI. E. Aplin, 1 up, and Whyte had beaten IT. A. Black, the holder of the championship, 7 and 6.
PLAY IN NELSON
SEIFERT BEATS HUGGINS Press Association NELSON, Tuesday. Seifert, junior, of Manawatu, won the Nelson provincial golf championship. by defeating Huggins, of Nelson, the holder, by 3 and 2. DOBSON CUP AT SHIRLEY VICTORY FOR HATTERSLEY Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The Easter golf tournament at, Shirley concluded today. The Dobson Cup semi-final and final rounds were the chief events today. In the semi-final, A. D. S. Duncan beat G. F. Golbeck, 4 and 2, and H. W- Hattersley (New South Wales) beat M. J. Ryan (Victoria), 4 and 2. In the ’final, Hattersley beat Duncan, 2 and 1. The women’s challenge cup for the best score of the tournament was won by M. J. Ryan (Victoria), with a score of 69.
