F. E. LOOMB AND F. GILCHRIST The friends of the Te Awamutu trainer, F. E. Loomb. will learn with regret of his sudden illness, prior to the second day's racing at Ellerslie. which necessitated his removal to h private hospital. Unless his condition shows considerable improvement, an operation will be necessary toward the end of the week. The Ellerslie mentor, F. Gilchrist, is also indisposed with an attack of pneumonia, but he is understood to be progressing satisfactorily.
