STEERING HANDLE

ONE-HANDED WORK To facilitate easy steering in traffic when one hand may be busy with the gear lever, and to rest the arms during a long drive, an ingenious American thought of clamping a knob or handle on to the rim of the steering wheel. He has patented the idea, but any driver should be able to make one in his own garage. It is simply a circular piece of polished wood, big enough to grip comfortably, clamped with felt packing on to the most convenient spot on the wheel’s rim, around a spoke for greater security. When gear-changing, backing, or parking, the wheel can be readily spun with one hand, without effort or changing grip of the wheel.
