CUNARD CHAIRMAN

S!R THOMAS ROYDEN OUT OF OFFICE REMAINS DIRECTOR British Official Wireless RUGBY, Wednesday. Sir Thomas Royden, at the annual meeting of the Cunard Steam Ship Company, Ltd., resigned his position as chairman, which he has held since 1922. He will continue to be a director. Sir Percy Bates, deputy chairman, was appointed to fill the vacancy. Sir Thomas Royden, who has played an important part in revolutionising ocean travel, has many shipping and other interests as well as the Cunard Line. He is head of Thomas Royden and Sons, and of the Santa Clara Steamship Company, chairman of the Anchor Line, and a director of many concerns, including the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, Midland Bank, Commonwealth and Dominion Line, Phoenix Assurance Company and Union Marine Insurance Company.
