Prendeville (AVellington) ! asked what the union’s policy was with I regard to trial matches this year, j Mr. Dean explained, that it was in- ! tended to hold three trial matches, j two in the North Island and one in the South. j Mr. Prendeville asked if there was j any necessity for the proposed trial s game on May 14. It had also been u rumoured that the union intended to 4 assemble the New Zealand team a l. week before the first test, and for this a team to play at least one match before □ the first test. v* Air. Dean explained that it was in[l tended that the New Zealand team should play a match again' North t Otago on the Wednesday before the _ first, test match. It was not consid--0 ered fair to ask the New Zealand team to take the field without at least one t gam© together. Mr. J. T. King advocated that the " Xew Zealand and Maoris match should ■2 be made an annual event. The match last year had done a great deal of
good for the game in AVellington, and had resulted in a profit of £400: From a playing and commercial aspect, the Pakeha v. Maori match was a firstclass proposition. If the fixture were made an annual one, it would encourage the Maori players. The motion that the fixture be made an annual one was carried.
