WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION
MORRINSYILLE BRANCH HOLDS FIRST ANNUAL MEETING The first annual meeting of the Morrinsville branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Alasonic Hall. Alorrinsville. on Friday. Mrs. A. I. Walker presiding over an attendance of 36 members. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow; —President. Airs. A. I. Walker: vice-presidents. Alesdames F. W. Seifert and F. R. Alarx: treasurer. Airs. Alarx: secretary. Airs. S. H. Wilding: librarian. Mrs. J. Alarra; executive. Alesdames E. Donovan, B. Harnett, H. C. Luke. E. H. Hutchings, Franklin and Miss Noble: social committee, Alesdames A. S. Wild. D. Grubb. R. C. Baton. Mikkelsen and Aliss Turnbull; housekeeping committee. Alesdames Walker, Seifert and Aliss Noble. The report of the first year's work stated that the branch had been formed with 16 members, while the roll number was now 106, and the attendance at meetings averaged 34. The committee consisted of seven members, each representing a different portion of the Alorrinsville district. A housekeeping advisory committee for making arrangements for supplying housekeepers needed in the district, and a social committee had also been formed. The profit from afternoon teas, dances, social evenings and a dance held during the year amounted to £4O 13s 6d. Two remits had been sent to the Dominion conference of the division in Wellington last year, one referring to housekeeping and the other to capitation grants for country schools. Both were well received at the conference •and the second one was sent on to the Alinister of Education.
