ROTARY WEEK AT “THE CHATEAU”
MANY SOCIAL FUNCTIONS The Chateau Tongariro, National Park, was very gay during Rotary Conference Week, and the wives of delegates had many social functions arranged for their enjoyment. On the Wednesday evening there was dancing and bridge, and picnics on Thursday and Friday afternoons were much enjoyed. A delightful concert entertained the guests on Thursday evening. Among the contributors were:—Madame A\ innie Fraser (Oamaru), Airs. Boyes (Hamilton), Air. W. Harrison Cooke (Wellington), Air. W. Alarming - (Auckland). Air. Partridge (Alasterton) and Air. Hugh Hobbs (Napier). Mrs. Mansel was accompaniste. A most successful ball was held on Friday evening, everyone entering into the fun and making the Chateau lounge a scene of wonderful gaiety. The new tennis court was opened on Tuesday, the first game being played by Misses Nelson and Bell, of Havelock North, and Misses ells (2), of Auckland.
