CHAIR OF OBSTETRICS

SUBURBAN MEETINGS CONVENED A well attended meeting, which was adjourned from last Monday, was held in the Devonport Borough Council chambers last evening. Air. E. Aldridge, the Alayor, presiding, to plan a campaign for raising funds to help to endow a chair of obstetrics at Dunedin University. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. E. Aldridge; president, Airs. Horace Scott; joint secretaries and treasurers, Airs. H. P. Bennett and Aliss Cousins. Two committees were set up to make a house-to-house canvass for funds, and to arrange card evenings and other entertainments. MEETING AT NORTHCOTE. The Mayoress of Northcote, Airs. A. E. Greenslade, presided over the meeting held in the Northcote Council Borough chambers last evening in connection with the obstetrical appeal. Aliss Alice Basten gave an interesting address on the aims and objects of the appeal. It was stated that no definite sum had been fixed as Northcote’s quota, to the fund, but it was suggested that th# sum contributed by the borough to the earthquake fund, i.e., £SO, be the objective of the campaign. The following committee, with power to add to its number, was appointed: President, the Alaj'oress, Airs. A. E. Greenslade; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. A. Taylor; committee, Alesdames D. P. O’Leary, J. W. AlcLaughlin, F. N. Wilkes, A. E. Harding, and Aliss L. Couldrey.
