The play-off between Onewhero and Pukekohe for the Park Horne Shield in the Franklin lawn tennis competitions resulted in a win for Pukekohe by six matches to three, one match being drawn. Details are (Pukekohe names first): Women’s Singles.—Miss A. Johns lost to Miss Cathcart, 2—6, 4 —6; Mrs. | Bayly beat Miss Randall, 6 —l, 6—2. j Men’s Singles.—Porter lost to Glasgow, 3 —6, 4 —6; Bull beat W. Ingram, 6—3, 6—3. "Women’s Doubles. —Miss A. Johns and Mrs. Bayly beat Misses Cathcart and Randall, 6 —3, 6—2; Miss M. Lysnar and Mrs. Campbell won on games from Mrs. McKibbin and Miss Keals, 6—l, 5 —6. Men’s Doubles.—Porter and Bull drew with Glasgow and W. Ingram, 6 —5, 5—6; Sparks and Cronin won on games from L. Ingram and Hira, 6—3, Combined Doubles.—Sparks and Miss Lysnar beat L. The decision to continue the competitions was only made on Friday afternoon on receipt of information that the representative match with Auckland and the Williams Shield match between Hikutaia and Patetonga had been postponed.
