KIWITAHI CLUB’S MEETING SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL GATHERING From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. j Favoured with perfect summer j weather, the second sports meeting ! conducted by the Kiwitahi Sports Club attracted a large number of spec- J tators and competitors, the gate takings being nearly 100 per cent, greater than at the previous gathering, when the weather was showery. With a long and varied programme, including athletic, horse and motor events, and ! contests for the children, there was never a dull moment in the day. and on all sides were heard expressions of appreciation of the capable way in which the sports were conducted. The horse events were again a feature of the meeting. The judge, Mr. Wynn Brown, of Cambridge, complimented the club on the success of this department of its meeting, saying that the horses were as good as could be desired and the jumping was far ahead of that seen at some country shows and equal to the best seen at really big shows. No less successftil was the dance held in the Kiwitahi Hall in the evening as a finale to the day’s sports. The hall was filled to the doors. Music was provided by Mesdames J. McMillan and B. Orr and Miss Z. Howarth, while Mr. G. Barlow acted as master of ceremonies. Trophies won during the day were presented by Mr. Wynne Brown. A splendid supper was provided by the women of the district.
