NORTHCOTE-BIRKENHEAD At a conference between the Devonport Ferry Co. and the Northcoto and Birkenhead Councils regarding the inadequacy of the present vehicular service, the Hon. E. W. Alison, chairman of directors of the company, submitted figures showing a loss on this service last year of £ 2,000. Instead of increasing, the demand had fallen off all along the line. Tho company had four vehicular steamers and could not put on another as there was no traffic for it. The Northcote-Birkenhead run did not demand. two boats or a bigger one. The present summer timetable would be continued until April 27.
