NEW LYNN BOROUGH
COUNCIL MEETING HELD At a meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council held on Monday, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. G. Lawson, presiding, some surprise was caused the council at the receipt of an account for £23 frown the City Council as New Lynn’s proportion of the cost of improvements to Blake Street, Avondale. It was explained that in the days of the Avondale Road Board, many years ago, a commission was set up to allocate the proportion of costs adjacent local bodies should be called on to pay toward the upkeep of main roads. It was stated that no previous claim for this street had been made. The council decided to pay the claim. It was decided that the council refrain from nominating a representative on the Auckland War Museum Committee. A letter was received from the Mount Kden Borough Council promising co-experation in respect of tho increased cost of the proposed new Whau Bridge owing to a canal project. It was dacided to express thanks to the Mount Eden Council for the resolution prassed. _ , The No. 2 District Highway Council expressed approval of the plans submitted of the proposed Whau Bridge. It was recommended that as a principle -the adoption of payment in advance for all water supplied beyond the borough boundaries should be made, the system to be instituted in the various cases at the discretion of the town clerk.
