MOTOR-CYCLE RACES
MEETING AT MANGERE SPEEDWAY NINE EVENTS ARRANGED The first race programme composed entirely of motor-cycQre events has been j arranged for Henirtng’s Speedway, Mangere, on March. 5. This will be j held under the ausprices of the North ( Shore Sports Motor-cycle Club. The club has in. the past held this j meeting on Orewa Beach, but permission was withheld this year by the ! Waitemata County Council for racing on the day selected. The beach is too far from the city lor riders to appear there on a Saturday afternoon, and tides would not be suitable for some weeks. A meeting of the committee last evening arranged a programme of nine events, the first race to be held at 1.40 p.m. Aucklanders wil 1 be given their first opportunity for seeing women motorcycle riders competing on the track in a special race. The programme is as follows: Sutcliffe Cup Haandicap.—Five laps, for 350-c.c. O.H.V. machines. Orewa Cup HaCndicap.—Six laps, 500c.c. machines. Women’s Handicap.—Two laps. Briar Cup Hajadicap.—Five laps, for the North Shone Club’s championship, open to membeds only. Hine Cup Championship.—Seven laps, open. Robinson Cup Handicap.—Four laps, for motor-cycle*? and sidecars. Blomfield Handicap.—Five laps, open. Moorcraft Cufp Handicap.—Four laps, open. Consolation Handicap.—Four laps. Nominations asre to close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday next with the secretary, Mr. R. Richardson, of Devonport.
