General opinion has it that the present good weather will last until alter tho Easter vacation, and boating men are busy making plans for that pleasant cruise which was denied them during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Indications are that the favourite haunts will be the Barrier Coromandel and Kawau. Most boatmen will not have sufficient time off to so further afield.
A popular win on the Manukau last Saturday was that of Miss Mac in '.lie Cruising Club sailing race. The boat is noted for being roomy and for carrying a big list of passengers on each racing day; so much so, that in fun othei boatmen have dubbed her the ’•Boardinghouse.’’ Last Saturdav may have been a slack day in the “boardinghouse” business, for with only a moderate breeze to drive her along she succeeded in winning. On a recent Saturday she struck a. good strong breeze and was keeping her handicap well in hand until the wind snuffecl out;.
The Takapuna class informal trials in Islington Bay, next week-end. are attracting considerable attenticramong the admirers of the small boats'. A number of old hands are scheduled for one-man events, and skill is to nave its opportunity. Ponsonby Club is for the event, as a return or hospitality shown by the Manukau Yacht Club recently. The Takapuna Club is assisting in the entertainment by providing facilities for the use of the Z boats. These inter-club festivities are developing into quite large functions and will be of more use than regattas, presently, in the promotion of good fellowship.
