MANGERE EAST FUNCTION
ENJOYABLE CROQUET AT HOME
The annual At Home held by the members of the Mangere ‘ East Croquet Club. on their lawns yesterday, was very successful. Twelve lawns were necessary to accommodate the large attendance of members, and visitors from other clubs. The extra playing area being provided on the adjoining bowlir.g greens. Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the function, and the lawns were in splendid order. Visitors were present representing the Mangere Central. Papa :oetoe. Otahuhu, Mount Albert, Mount Wellington. Onehunga, Howick, St. Heliers and Ellerslie Clubs. A produce stall was erected in the grounds, and under the charge of Mesdames Henwood and Hancock, was
well patronised. During the function some very interesting competitions were held, intrest being centred in the'progressive croquet competitions. Three sessions were held, which were keenly con testfd. The winners were:—First session A grade, Mrs. Roberts, Howick Club; B grade. Mrs. Nixon. Otahuhu «'lub. Second session: A grade, Mrs. Papatoetoe Club; B grade. -Mrs. H. Henwood. Mangere Central Club. Third session: A grade, Mrs. Pearse, Otahuhu Club; B grade, Mrs. Nixon, Otahuhu Club. Target croquet: Mrs Newson, Mangere East Club. 1; Mrs Kerr, Mangere East Club, 2. Cake competition: Mrs. Penman. Mangere East Club. Apron competition: Mrs. Johnson.
