WEEK-END JOTTINGS From Our Own Correspondent TAURANGA, Wednesday. Two yacht races for the French Cup were held on Saturday and resulted:— First race.—Roy Pemberton’s, Vestal, scr., 1; R. Mackerell’s, Petrel, 30secs., 2; K. Andrew’s, Pal, DSeecs., Second race.—Roy Pemberton’s, Vestal, scr., 1; K. Andrew’s, Pal, 2imin. t • ii- Mackerell’s, Petrel, 40secs., . The aggregate points for the two races are Vestral 10, Petrel 5, Pal 5. Vestral wins the trophy. Five teams of bowlers from the South Auckland centre, are touring the Bay of Plenty. They will play a game with the Tauranga Club, on Thursday afternoon and Tauranga South on Friday morning, then going on to Ivatikati in the afternoon. Teams from the Tauranga South Tennis Club, played matches at Mount Maunganui with the club there, resulting as follow (Tauranga players being mentioned first): Mens’ Singles.—Bateman v. Paterson 6—7, Heald v. Carson 7 —2, Pole v. Courtenay 7 —2, Shearman v. Halcombe 7—2. Maloney v. Nash 6 —7, Moore v. Nathan 6—7.
