HAMILTON NOTES

From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Sunday. While firing a gun in a side-show at the Ngaruawahia regatta yesterday a young man, Mr. W. Pollock, of Hunua, received a painful injury to the cheek. Mr. Pollock fired the gun at a target, but the pellet rebounded and struck his cheek just below the right eye. He was attended to by a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. A reply to the request of the Hamilton High School Old Boys’ Association that the specifications of the proposed high school boys’ hostel be expedited has been received from the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atmore. The Minister stated that there had been no delay on the part of the Education Department. He added, however, that the architectural branch of the Public Works Department had had too much work to do to enable it to complete the specifications up to the present time. A collision took place between the Cambridge train and a motor-cycle ridden by Mr. Eric Brazendale at the Matangi level crossing at 10-30 a.m. yesterday. Mr. Brazendale suffered severe injuries to his back and was admitted to the Waikato Hospital in a semi-conscious condition.

Mr. Brazendale’s condition is reported as being serious. He has been employed at the Manawaru cheese factory.
