AVONDALE BRIDE WEARS CHENILLE EMBOSSED FROCK

McHARDIE—PENDLEBURY A pretty wedding was celebrated on Tuesday in St. Jude’s Church Avondale, between Doris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pendlebury, of Blockhouse Bay, and Douglas, son of Mrs. and the late Mr. McHardie, of Ohura. The Rev. H. Drake performed the ceremony. The bride entered the church on her father’s arm. wearing a beautiful frock of white chenille georgette. A large embroidered veil of the same material, held by a coronet of pearls and small sprays of orange blossom, formed a train. She carried a white shower bouquet. Tho chief bridesmaid, Aliss Enid Pendlebury, sister of the bride, was prettily f rocked in lemon taffeta. Scalloped with trimmings of handpainted roses formed an uneven hemline, and a headdress of lemon tulle. Her bouquet was of lemon and mauve flowers. The frock of the second bridesmaid. Miss Phyllis Mealing, was a replica of the former, carried out in powder blue taffeta. She carried a bouquet of flowers in shades of lemon and pink. Air. George Orvell attended the bridegroom as best man, and Mr. William Douglas as groomsman. A reception was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, where Airs. Pendlebury received her guests wearing a frock of black chenille georgette with a black hat. She carried a bouquet of autumn tints. The bridegroom’s mother. Airs. AlcHardie, was gowned in navy blu«> marocain, relieved with beige, and beige felt hat. A dance was held later in the Oddfellows’ Hall, after which the bride and bridegroom left on an extended motor tour of the East Coast. Among those present were: Airs. E. Alealing, Mrs. W.
