REICHSTAG GIVES SUPPORT TO YOUNG PLAN PRESSURE ON CATHOLICS Reed. 10.55 a.m. BERLIN, Tuesday. Anxiety that the Government would fail to obtain a satisfactory majority on the Young Plan in the Reichstag was dispelled by the Catholic Party’s last-minute decision to support the plan, as the Government had met its financial claims. The Bavarian People’s Party abstained from voting. The Communists tried to obstruct, but the Bill passed its second reading by 251 votes to 174. It is rumoured that President Hindenburg brought pressure to bear on the Catholics because he felt he could not sign the Young Plan and The Hague Agreements if they were passed by only a bare majority. The Reichstag also passed the Australian and New Zealand war-time property agreements, which were concluded at The Hague.
