SAMOA IS QUIETER
MINISTER SAYS CORNER IS TURNED WANTED MEN GIVEN UP SUVA, Tuesday. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Defence, and Mrs. Cobbe are passengers on the Tofua for Auckland, the Minister having completed his visit to Samoa. Interviewed, Mr. Cobbe said the Samoan position was much improved. The Mau representatives had met the Administrator and himself in quite a frisndly wsy. Hs hud continually asked them if they had any complaints or grievances, or did they suffer from any injustices. The Mau had marched in and wanted men had been surrendered voluntarily. Some were wanted on criminal charges. The natives then returned to their villages. Matters had still to be adjusted, but Mr. Cobbe believed the corner had been turned, • and that normal conditions would obtain gradually. , Mr. F. G. Matthews, the Minister s private secretary, is also returning by the Tofua.
