TRAPPED IN THEATRE
HUNDRED STUDENTS DIE IN JAPANESE FIRE SOLE EXIT BLOCKED Reed. 10.5 a.m. TOKYO, Tuesday. A cinema fire occurred at Chinkai in a military hall during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Mukden. It was caused by a gasoline explosion. A total of 104 people was burned to death. Most of the victims were students. The building was unsuited for a public performance. The sole exit was blocked. Except for two adults, the victims were all young school children. The authorities are court martialling those responsible.
