WOOL BUYERS KEEN
PRICES MAINTAINED AT NAPIER SALE PASSINGS NEGLIGIBLE Press Association XAPIEII, Today. The fourth Napier wool sale was held last evening, when a catalogue of 13,638 bales was offered to a full bench of buyers. On the whole bidding was keen, much more so than has been the case at previous sales in Napier this season. One feature was that it came from all quarters, showing that most markets vvere keen to obtain wool at the prices ruling. Prices for pieces and bellies were hotter than those ruling at the recent Wanganui sale. Fleece wool on the opening catalogues was about p:l easier, but toward the end of the sale the rates ruling at Wanganui were reached. Lambs’ wool was about the same. Compared with the January sale in Napier fleece wool was about id to 3d down, while pieces and bellies, for which there was a ken demand, showed tin increase of one-hall'penny. Lambs’ wool was erratic, with prices up to those realised at the last sale. Growers generally seemed willing to meet the market and the passings made up a. comparatively small percentage, certainly not as great as at the last two sales held in Napier. The official range of prices was as follows: Merino.—Average, up to 19£d. Corriedale.—Average, nil, inferior, nil. Southdown.—Average, 18£d to 19id; inferior, nil.
