PAEROA-POKENO LINE

ANOTHER SURVEY TO BE MADE DEVIATION AT NGATEA From Our Own Correspondent NGATEA, Monday. Arrangements are now being made for a re-survey of the route of the proposed Paeroa-Pokeno rail-wav. On Saturday last sites for the surveyors' camps were selected at Ngatea. It is learned that a route is to be selected which will bring the line nearer to Ngatea township and which will reduce the number of bridges to one. The route to be investigated will follow the right bank of the Piako River from Kerepeehi to Ngatea, instead of crossing the Awalti Canal, Piako River and Puhanga Canal, as does the route which was surveyed last. The number of times the route of this proposed railway across Hauraki Plains has been surveyed is hard to recall.
