ROTORUA NOTES
The Druids held their annual picnic at Hamurana on Sunday. The children, especially, enjoyed a wonderful day. every child winning a prize of some sort. Mr. Phipps proved to be the fastest runner. Mr. J. J. Lewis scampered home first in both the visitors’ plate and the old buffers’ gallop, despite a heavy handicap. The Post and Telegraph officers enjoyed a field day on Sunday when three big launches conveyed them and their families to a cove on Lake Rotoiti, where they held a picnic and sports meeting. The 18th Battery was replaced in camp by the 20th Mountain Gunner*(Auckland) on Saturday. An “At Home” was held on Sunday, at which citizens were entertained. Mr. Brydon Crawford while motorcycling ran into a car near Lake House. Hotel on Saturday. Mrs. C Trough ton Clark, who was pillion riding, was hurled over the handle-bars and was badly bruised. Mr. J. M. Roberts presided at ih« Rotary luncheon yesterday. Mr. <> IT. Coleman was appointed as thclub’s delegate to the Rotary Confer ence at Tongariro Chateau. Dr. P. S Poster, a past president of the Christchurch Rotary Club. addressed tb* meeting concerning ' his experiences with Rotary in .New Zeaudiu an*, abroad.
