“GUY” TRUCKS
FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE
HERE Mr. W. R. Richards, factory representative for Messrs. Guy, passed through Auckland last week. Many keen motorists will remember him for his “stunts’' with a six-wheeler, out at Tamaki; a journey that he continued to the East Coast bays north of Gisborne and to Palmerston North. He states that six-wheel rigid traction is immensely popular in England as a result of War Office tests. This is also reflected in trackless trolley design, where Wolverhampton Corporation has ordered more sixwheelers from his firm. The firm of Messrs Guy has just put on the market a two-ton truck to compete in the medium-priced class; it is a 4-cylinder job with final axle ratio; a wheelbase of 12ft 3in; minimum clearance of 11^in; 36 x S all-round tyres, and electric light. The same firm has produced in response to a positive demand, a six-cylinder six-ton chassis, with Guy patent inclined head and valve operation; the wheelbase is 14ft 6in, and clearance of 10£in.
