EAST COAST BEACHES

The Waitemata County Council lias arranged with the Marine Department to exercise control over the East Coast beaches, from Castor Bay, down to low-water mark. A number of motor-cyclists and motor-car drivers, not knowing this fact, have been surprised at receiving a summons for speeding on Orewa Beach, hitherto regarded as a place where engines could be tested. The North Shore Motor-Cycle and Sports Club which has held its annual picnics and sports on the beach has applied to the County Council for permission to hold its annual fixture in March.
