CONTINUOUS TESTING
CHEVROLETS ON PROVING GROUNDS An average <i f twelve Chevrolet cars are always in operation at General Motors Proving Ground at Milford, Michigan, summer, winter, autumn and spring, through the hottest weather and through the blizzards of winter. When these cars have been driven 50,000 miles under given conditions, they are taken down, the parts are examined for wear and those which show signs of weakness are made the basjs for redesigns. The engineering department and tli3 production men join hands in examinations of the test cars and each department has a chance to make suggestions. Test cars are always taken from the shipping platform where they are ready for delivery to dealers. Guesswork in the making and development of Chevrolet cars has been entirely eliminated and the life of the average car is estimated at between six and seven years.
