SANDERS CUP CONTEST
LARGER BOATS PROPOSED PRESENT CRAFT TOO SMALL Giving his opinion that th« 14-5-ot boat had outlived its purpose in th<*» Sanders Cup contest. Xlr. C’. H. T. Palmer, chairman of the Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association, suggested at last evening’s meeting that the IS-foot Patiki class should bo substituted. At the Dominion Yachting Conference held in committee after the recent contest, the Sanders Cup was discussed from every aspect,” Mr. Palmer said. “It was decided to procure from the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron full plans and particulars of the ft! class patikis. They will be sent to other associations so that they can discuss them, criticise them and even build to the specifications. At the next conference, the question can be di - cussed whether that class will not bo a more suitable class to race with. We must also see if the deed of gift can be amended. At the meeting already held delegates were unanimous that such a class was desirable.” Reporting on the recent contest finances. Xlr. Palmer said that, although a definite statement could net yet be made, it was certain that ther<would be a small credit balance and the funds of the association would not bo called upon. Mr. Palmer suggested other associations should be approached about th-> formation of a Xew Zealand Yacht and Xlotor-Boat Association. Later a small committee could be formed to prepare skeleton rules for the consideration of other associations.
