PROGRESS BEING MADE ON EXTENSIONS OTHER WORKS PROJECTED Suggested dates for the commencement of new tramway extensions authorised under the 1929 poll, sanctioning the borrowing of £526,000, were placed before the Transport Board this morning by the manager, Mr. A. E. Ford. The proposals were referred to the board-in-committee for consideration. Mr. Ford plans that the Richmond Road extension be put in hand about August 1, and that it be completed about the end of December. The Three Kings (Mount Eden) work he suggests should also be begun in August. He expects the job to be completed about the end of January, 1931. The Garnet Road (West End) work he proposes should be started on January 3, 1931, and would be finished about tlie end of April of that year. The Sandringham route (Edendale) Mr. Ford says could be begun about the beginning of February, 1931, and completed about the end of the following March. The Onehunga duplication could be undertaken and completed during April. 1931. Reporting on works now in progress, the manager said that it was anticipated that the first portion of the Point Chevalier route, namely, to the hall corner, would be completed toward the end of next month. The second portion, that from the hall to the beach, would be completed by the end of July. A start had been made with the Remuera line and this, together with the loop Into the new railway station, will also he finished about the end of July.
