COUNCIL COMPLETES ALL ARRANGEMENTS WANGANUI GAME ABANDONED Arrangements were completed this afternoon by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council for the playing of a fourth test cricket match, England v. New Zealand, • at Auckland, commencing on Friday next. The honorary secretary of the council, Mr. W. H. Winsor, has received advice from Wanganui stating that that association is prepared to abandon its match with the M.C.C. side to make the fourth test possible. The dates for the Taranaki-M.C.C. game have now been fixed for Wednesday and Thursday, February 26 and 27, the dates originally allotted for the Wanganui game. The members of the New Zealand Cricket Council now in Auckland are very gratified at the sporting action of the Wanganui association in agreeing to have their game abandoned, to make possible an additional game at Auckland, and so make up for the financial loss on the curtailed third test.

The move for the institution of another trial of strength came in the Srst place from the authorities of the Marylebone Cricket Club in London, on the receipt of which the captainmanager of the team, Mr. A. H. H. Gilligan, suggested that the match be played on Friday, Saturday and Monday next. The members of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council at present in Auckland had a further conference at ihe pavilion during the luncheon adjournment yesterday, when negotiations were set in train to make the match possible. The chief obstacle in the way was the question of further leave for the Members of the Nev Zealand team at Present at Auckland. This was overcome this morning, however. The Auckland Cricket Association readily agreed to the match for the Plunket Shield. Auckland v. Wellingon, at Wellington, commencing on Friday next, being postponed, and the Wellington Association has now granted its approval also.
