EARLY MORNING FIRE

OCCUPANT ESCAPES Extensive damage was done to a five-roomed house at 25 King Edward Street, Mount Eden, when fire broke out at about 1 o’clock this morning. occupier of the house, was awakened by the flames and experienced some difficulty in making his escape. When the Mount Eden Fire Brigade arrived the flames were in full possession. but good work on the part of the bngadesmen slowly brought the outbreak under control. The heatscorched the walls and broke the windows of a neighbouring house, occupied by Mr. D. Holley. The fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen. The house was covered by an insurance policy for £ 750 in the Alliance Assurance Company, Limited, but the contents were not insured.
