CONCRETE TO HOWICK
SURVEY WORK FINISHED TENDERS CLOSE IN MARCH Survey work has been completed along the road from Panmure Bridge to the western Howick town boundary, the section of the road to be concreted shortly by the Manukau Comity Council. Conditions of tender have been drawn up and the specifications will be advertised within a few days. The tenders will close on March 7, and work will commence as soon as’ possible afterward. This section willl ink up with the concrete strip to be laid down by the Howick Town Board, and will then provide easy access from the city to many popular bays along the shores of the outer harbour and the Hauraki Gulf.
The tenders provide for the regrading of the road, a number of hills having to be cut and the hollows filled. An 18ft concrete highway will be provided, with well-finished shoulders and easy grades.
