FAY OF WHALES, Wed
About a third of our men are living in the tent street on the other side of the Bay, where they have stowed their equipment. This was taken over by dog sledge;;. They have a mess hall made from dog crates. They dag down in the snow, placed the crates along op. their sides and put the airplane propeller boxes over the top for beams. Over these they placed a tarpaulin. The table is made from a Ford ski, an upside-down pedestal serving as a support. Benches are smaller airplane skis. It makes a shelter of sorts, although on days like yesterday and today it is not free from draught.
