BAIL REFUSED

REMAND ON THEFT CHARGES

ASSORTMENT OF GOODS Bail w’as refused when Eric McKenzie was remanded at the Police Court this morning on two charges of theft. In asking for the remand, SeniorSergeant O’Grady remarked that there were further inquiries to be made. McKenzie, a warehouseman, aged 28, was charged with stealing goods valued at £1 12s from Herbert Saxon Shaw yesterday and two bell pushes valtfled at 3s from the Allum Electric Company on * the same day. The goods alleged to have been stolen from Shaw included lucky packets, can-openers, scrubbing-brushes and an overcoat. Explaining that, he was waiting lor counsel. McKenzie asked that the case be stood down for an hour or two. The senior-sergeant, however, asked for a remand until Monday, which Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., granted. Accused: How as-sut bail then? — Bail was refused.
