Mr. Thomas Spence was bathing In the private swimming bath of Mr. Tapjf at Waikokowai when he was seen to be in difficulties owing to being unable to swim. Mr. Tom Connolly went to his assistance, but owing to Mr. Spence holding him, his would-be rescuer was soon in a bad plight. Mr. Andrew Miller then jumped into the bath without waiting to divest himself of h"» clothing, and after a hard tussle rescued both men. who were in a bad way. They recovered later.
