FOREST PLANTING
USE OF NATIVE LANDS A suggestion for afforestation on native lands will be sent to the Commissioner of State Forests, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, by the Akarana Maori Association. The policy in view by the Government is the use of waste native lands lor afforestation, but the association decided last evening to offer the suggestion that the Government could cooperate with the owners of native lands in planting trqes on their properties. This would not mean the buying of land from the Maoris and would provide occupation for natives.
