CASE AT ROTORUA Special to TUB SUN ROTORUA. Today. In the Rotorua Magistrate’s Court yesterday Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., gave his reserved decision in the case against C. Fowkes, billiards saloon proprietor, who was charged with carrying on the business of a bookmaker, and keeping a common gaming house. The magistrate said the books confiscated by the police could only be bookmakers’ accounts. A policeman saic'l he made certain bets with Fowkes, but accused denied ever having seen him. The magistrate considered the charges proved and fined defendant £lO on the first charge and £ 5 on the second.
