STEAMER IN DISTRESS
FOMUUA ON WAY TO AUCKLAND S.O.S. ANSWERED United P. A.—By Telegraph—Copyright VANCOUVER, Saturday. The British cargo steamer North Pacific has sent out an S.O.S. wireless call. She is in distress 320 miles south-west of Cape Flattery. Several ships are hastening to the aid of the North Pacific. Probably they will reach her early tomorrow. The 40 members of the crew are in peril. The steamer was en route to Auckland from Vancouver, and was to call at Honolulu. The North Pacific, 3,93 S tons, of the Exmouth Steam Ship Company, Ltd., Cardiff, left Westport for Nauru Island on November 23. Cape Flattery is the northernmost point of the State of Washington, at the entrance to the Strait of San Juan de Fuca, which leads in to the entrance to Vancouver, running between the American coast and Vancouver Island.
