SAWMILL DESTROYED
WIND FANS FLAMES BLAZE AT CARTERTON Press Association MASTERTON, Tuesday. A fire that broke out shortly before seven o’clock this evening destroyed a sawmill and box factory in High Street, Carterton, belonging to Davies and Company. A strong westerly wind was blowing at the time, and the mill, which contained a quantity of timber, was soon a mass of flames in spite of the efforts of the fire brigade. The cause of the outbreak is not known. The insurances on the plant and building are £2,250, and on the stock, £SOO.
