HANDICAP TENNIS

MATCHES AT STANLEY STREET COURTS CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED Brilliant stroke play was witnessed in the final of the girls’ singles championship at the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association’s tournament at the Stanley Street courts on Tuesday. The winner, Miss Newton, drove forcefully and accurately back and forehand in the first set, taking it easily. The boys’ singles championship also produced some high-class tennis, Milne accounting for Turner, the former’s well-placed strokes being the deciding factor after the middle set went to 13 —11. The only championship events yet to bo decided are the men’s doubles, m which N. G. Sturt and A. C. Stedman meet M. M. Morrison and A. C.
