WHITTLE AND WRIGHT CONTEST FINAL GOOD PLAY AT CARLTON TTIO semi-finals of the inter-section play of the Auckland Bowling Centre’s Christmas tourney were played at the Carlton green this morning, and the final this afternoon. In the semi-finals, Whittle played Carter and Parsons opposed Wright. The Wright-Carter game produced some fine bowling in a fight all the way. The liungarei bowling green was the scene of some fine . exhibitions of bowling this afternoon, when North Auckland met the Canadian visiting bowling team in the first representative match of the tour. The greens were in good order, although light rain had fallen during the morning. In the early stages of the game, it appeared as if the visitors would run out comfortable winners, but by steady play, the northern side had gained an advantage when the 15th head was reached and from then on the result was never in doubt, the North Auckland team finally winning by a margin of 48 points. The result was received by the northern supporters with great enthusiasm.
