MAORI POISONING FATALITIES
OPENING OF INQUEST

The inquest concerning the deaths of Wera Wera, aged 14, and Haki Kara, aged six, the Maori girl and boy respectively who were found dead, apparently as the result of poisoning, on Wednesday, at a pa at Fencourt, near Tauwhare, was opened before the district coroner, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at Hamilton this afternoon.
Tara Whati Ere, farmer, of Fencourt, said that lie was a widower, with four children, two of whom, both girls, resided with him. The father of the dead girl. Wera Wera, lived at Napier, her mother being dead.
Witness gave evidence of identification of the bodies of Wera Wera and the boy, Haki Kara. The boy’s parents resided at Maungatautari, although witness had reared him. The inquest was adjourned sine die, the coroner intimating that it could he reoponed after the post-mortem examination, and further investigations. had been made.
