THEFT FROM FARMER
MONEY AND RAZOR STOLEN PROBATION FOR YOUTH From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Friday. A fresh-faced, well-dressed youth, William Grounds, 18. stood in the dock .at the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court this afternoon charged with stealing C 30 and a razor from James Thomson at Te Miro, near Cambridge, and a gold ring valued at £1 from Edward Henry Hall, of Te Miro. Accused pleaded guilty to all three charges. Constable Jones, of Cambridge, said he had been informed of the theft on December 23 and accosted accused in the town, where he made a statement to the police. In the statement accused admitted the offences and said he left. Hall's farm on which he had been working with a horse and the stolen money, and booked a room at the Masonic Hotel, Cambridge. He bad taken the money to go to bis home at Auckland. He had never been convicted before.
Sergeant Stark said the youth’s parents lived at Hokianga; nothing was known against the accused. Accused had nothing to say and was admitted, on account of his youth, to 12 months' probation.
